The Courtesy of Truckers
Oh, the drama on Ice Road Truckers. Poor Hugh got fined for not having his log books in order. Alex almost got into an accident by hitting that pickup that couldn’t wait to pass him. I don’t know why she didn’t just follow along behind him. I was happy that he got to travel with George. George seems to be a man of integrity and I knew he would not just leave Alex alone to struggle with his tire chains. Not like that other trucker did. Then Tim had trouble with his lights. Sometimes when one thing goes wrong with a truck it just continues. If he just keeps going, things will work out for him. Now Phil has a buddy that he is competing with also. It is not just Alex and Hugh anymore.
I learned from my dad that when a truck passes you and his trailer is just past your front bumper, flash your lights at him so he knows when he can safely pull in. Most of the time they will courtesy you back as a way of saying thank you. I always say a mental prayer for their safety to where they are going and for their truck to stay in good running order. Some of the younger drivers must not know about this, because there are some who pass and don’t flash their lights back. Although the newer cars have lights that stay on, I still drive the older models that don’t have the lights running all the time. A few times at night if a truck passes and a car suddenly comes out of nowhere, I will slow down and quickly brighten and dim my lights two times to let them know they can pull in. They will also give me a quick courtesy back.
