A Short Story of 3 Sisters
Three sisters ages 92, 94, and 96 all lived together in one house. One night, the 96-year-old draw a bath, puts one foot in and pauses. Suddenly, she yells out, “I can’t remember if I was getting in, or coming out.”
The 94-year-old answers back, “I don’t know. I will come up and see.” She gets half way up the stairs and pauses. “I can’t rember whether I was going up or coming down.”
The 92-year-old shakes her head, and says, “I hope I don’t get that forgetful.” She knocks on wood for good measure. “Hang on. I’ll come up and help both of you, just as soon as I see who is at the door.”
This is a joke from Joel Osteen Ministries. I thought instead of telling something depressing or sad, I would pass this little story on. Even though it is funny, it is sort-of double sided as it is not funny if that is happening to a member in your family or to a loved one.
Alzheimer’s is a mind stealing disease and it is one that steals not only your laughter, your joy, and your peace, but also the one it decides to claim. Life gets sour and that is bad for your body. So you know that God has given us natural germ, disease fighting organisms in our bodies, but if we live without joy, those natural fighters, fail to do their jobs. So let’s find a way to lose our stress, strife and bitterness. We need to find a way to laugh and bring those natural defenders alive again so we can live healthier lives.
